Rejoice!

Originally written and arranged for the CBSO Christmas concerts in 2015, Rejoice! incorporates the Advent hymn, ‘O come, O come, Emmanuel’. The piece is designed as an opening number for an Advent service or Christmas concert, with scope for two or three separate choirs and audience to participate.  After an initial brass fanfare, a child soloist begins the hymn, and successive verses can be taken by children’s choir, community choir, men’s voices in harmony, women’s voices and culminating in a final tutti unison verse (with descant),  which the audience also can join in.

More recently, the setting has been performed in a modified form (using a string orchestra and a single trumpet as accompaniment) at a London Symphony Chorus concert at London’s Barbican.
