Just before Christmas, it was my great privilege to attend an Advent Service at Berlin Cathedral to hear a piece I had been commissioned to write for the John F Kennedy International School, who were celebrating a special anniversary.
There had been some discussion as to whether the hymn, ‘Let all mortal flesh keep silence’, which is incorporated into the piece, belongs to Advent or to Holy Week. I feel it fitted in very well with Advent, but the final verse, ending with its ‘Alleluias’, is also very appropriate for Easter!
I hope you enjoy listening to this shorts extract from what was a tremendous performance.
Wishing you all a happy Easter!
