Guiding Star is one of my latest Christmas pieces, which was performed by the Chorus and Orchestra at the CBSO Christmas Concerts at Symphony Hall in 2016, and by the London Symphony Chorus at the Barbican Concert Hall in 2017.  Once again, I’ve set the words of a familiar hymn. ‘As with gladness men of old’, to a new tune, emphasizing the joy of the Magi, as they ‘sped to that lowly manger bed’.

This piece may be accompanied by piano or organ, but there is also a full orchestration and a version for brass ensemble and percussion.
